Many people feel down about their own artwork compared to others.
How do you stay inspired to keep drawing? What keeps you going? What do you do to stop yourself getting too down and giving it all up?
I like to look at the oldest pieces in Deviant Artist's galleries and watch how they have grown and improved over the years. Sometimes I contact them to ask how they do certain techniques. But mainly, I smile and think about how much they've improved and then think that I could improve like that too. It just takes practice and hard work. Granted, you won't become amazing in 5 seconds. But with perseverance, it's possible.
I mean, there are SO MANY drawings, sketches, doodles and studies that never make it into DA galleries and so it looks like they are just naturally amazing. But that's not true! Those people work really hard by looking at tutorials, studying form, and practising until their hands hurt! I'm sure if you contact them, they probably have felt just as down about their own artwork as you might about yours. Perhaps they still do. We are not so different!
I'd love to hear what keeps you motivated. Perhaps we can share some tips and techniques for staying positive ^^
